Fatal collision in Turner

police

ACT Policing is investigating a collision on McCaughey Street in Turner in which an elderly male driver has died.

Investigators are examining the circumstances surrounding the collision, which occurred yesterday afternoon (Saturday, August 23) around 1.40pm. The driver, an 87-year-old man from Braddon, appears to have lost control and collided with a tree.

Attempts were made to resuscitate the elderly man but he later died at hospital.

While police note this is the eighth fatality on ACT roads this year, investigations are ongoing into the circumstances surrounding the single vehicle collision.

The Collision Investigation and Reconstruction Team is requesting that any witnesses to the incident who have not yet spoken with police should contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the Crime Stoppers website on www.act.crimestoppers.com.au.
