Floriade was particularly fab in 2014 says Andrew Barr

Floriade 2012-6578

ACTING Chief Minister Andrew Barr is celebrating a record breaking Floriade after enjoying the best possible weather.

“I am pleased to announce that Floriade 2014 has had a hugely successful year, recording the largest ever attendance figure in the event’s 27-year history,” Andrew said.

“The capital’s 30-day spring festival was blessed with good weather and attracted 481,854 visits with many people attending on multiple occasions. This is the biggest crowd since the introduction of turnstiles in 1999.

“This figure represents an increase of 7.32% on last year’s figure of 448,987 and is nearly 10,000 more than the previous highest record of 471,979 in 2010.”

Preparations are now under way for Floriade 2015.
