Gentleman seeking advisers on Indigenous children in care

Mick Gentleman

MICK Gentleman says he is recruiting a casual pool of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural advisers to provide advice children and young people in out of home care.

“Care and Protection Services are keen to work more closely with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community to ensure the best possible outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and young people,” Mick said.

“This service means children and young people in care will be further supported to develop their identity through contact with their culture and communities.”

The cultural advice service model will be trialled over 12 months, targeting children and young people when they enter care, transitions from care and cultural planning at annual reviews.
