IT has been long suspected but now confirmed, the Swedish kings of flatpack furniture are opening a Canberra store near the airport.
A gala ceremony is planned for Thursday May 8 to celebrate the official development application approval of the new ACT store featuring the IKEA Country Manager David Hood, Chief Minister Katy Gallagher, and Swedish Ambassador to Australia, H E Mr Sven-Olof Petersson.
The new store will have an enormous impact on the Canberra furniture retail sector, not to mention the cottage industry of delivery vans hithero plying the Hume Highway.
The store is expected to be open to the public by September 2015.
From Monday a random selection of people who would not normally meet the criteria for coronavirus testing will now be tested at the Weston Creek Walk-in-Centre and at the drive-through testing station at EPIC.
