Intersection of Melrose and Eggleston to be upgraded

SHANE Rattenbury has announced the start of works to put traffic lights at the intersection of Melrose Drive and Eggleston Crescent.

“The intersection was changed in 2012, preventing a right hand turn from Eggleston Crescent, however we received feedback from the community that further improvements were needed,” Shane said.

“As such, TAMS will be installing traffic lights at the intersection over the coming weeks to improve safety and access in the area. The new traffic lights will be coordinated with existing traffic lights at the intersection of Melrose Drive and Botany Street.”

Additionally from 19 May the speed limit for a section of Melrose Drive between Hindmarsh Drive and Yarra Glenn will be reduced from 70 to 60 kilometres per hour.

It’s expected to cost $380,000 with the money coming from the Federal Government’s Black Spot Program.
