Joy Burch asks public school parents to rationalise their decision

JOY Burch has put out a survey asking parents of public school children to justify their decision to stick with the free education option.

“Understanding what families think about their schools and why they choose one school over another is vital to understanding what works and what needs to improve,” Joy Burch said.

“Among other things, this survey asks parents and carers what is important to them when choosing a school for their child, which type of school do parents recommend to other families, and how well do our schools communicate with parents.

“We have a high quality, high performing public school system in Canberra and parental engagement is a key factor in making it even stronger.

“Parent surveys such as this allow us to test ideas and seek feedback, and I urge parents and carers to take the survey and let us know what they think. Its findings will help shape our future engagement with parents and carers.”

The survey closes November 28.
