“I have loved my time as CEO of beyondblue,” Ms Carnell said. “It is a fantastic organisation and the commitment of its staff is amazing

“It is great that ACCI already has a strong relationship with beyondblue and I hope to continue creating mentally healthy workplaces in my new role.”

The chair of the beyondblue board, Jeff Kennett, said Ms Carnell had left the organisation in a much stronger position than when she was appointed CEO in 2012, and had helped develop “a solid strategic direction”.

“Kate has had a long association with beyondblue, first as deputy chair and more recently as CEO,” Mr Kennet said.

“The board and staff at beyondblue sincerely thank Kate for her leadership and contribution, and we wish her well as CEO of ACCI.

“A search has already started for her replacement.”
