ACT Labor Senator Kate Lundy has announced she won’t be running at the next election, opening up a feverish field of candidates seeking preselection to a safe Labor seat in Parliament.
The announcement, anticipated in many quarters, was made at a Labor Party dinner.
Next March will mark 19 years since I was first elected to represent the ACT in the Australian Senate. I will work with the ACT ALP to ensure a smooth transition over the next six months.
Just who will triumph in the race for nomination will no doubt keep local politics watchers occupied for the next six months.
