THE program for the Legislative Assembly has been announced for the week and it certainly looks like the Mr Fluffy issue is going to come to a head.

Not only is the Chief Minister scheduled to make a Ministerial Statement on the ACT Asbestos Taskforce, she’s also introducing the “Dangerous Substances (Asbestos Safety Reform) Legislation Amendment Bill 2014”

We’ll keep you posted.

UPDATE: The Chief Minister’s Office have been in touch to say it’s not going to be a major announcement.

The dangerous substances legislation deals with harmonisation of laws across jurisdictions with regard to dangerous substances, including asbestos, and the ministerial statement is something that the Chief Minister gave an undertaking to do semi regularly, to the Legislative Assembly, to ensure all members are updated on the work of the taskforce.

For what it is worth the Guardian is reporting the Federal Cabinet is meeting to consider the matter.
