Parliament House is looking for child care

Parliament House

THE Department of Parliamentary Services says they are looking for a child care service provider for the Capital Hill Early Childhood Centre, based at Parliament House.

“We are calling for bids from capable providers to provide a high quality service for babies and toddlers aged from six weeks to three years,” said Ms Carol Mills Secretary DPS.

“Providing continuity, affordable and flexible child care service for Parliamentarians and staff working at Parliament House is crucial and DPS would like to maintain the positive, warm, safe and caring environment within the existing, subsidised facilities.

“I would like to assure parents working here that we are committed to ensure the child care service continues. I encourage all child care service providers to seriously look at the exciting opportunity at this national institution.”

Contractual arrangements with the existing provider finish end of this year.

Respondents to the request for expressions of interest document must be able to demonstrate the capacity and capability to undertake the work required as well as having a good track record of delivery of child care services.

“In addition to providing evidence of the financial stability of the organisation, they are required to provide relevant information and modelling to demonstrate that the child care service delivery model they propose for Parliament House is financially viable over the life of the period of the agreement. Respondents will be expected to reflect the DPS financial subsidy in their financial modelling.

“The ability to offer child care services for the 3 to 5 years age group at a location in close proximity to Parliament House would be desirable,” she added.
