NEW TRAINEESHIPS are on offer at Ainslie and Gorman Arts Centres 2015 for young people interested in working in the arts.
In partnership with ArtsReady, Ainslie and Gorman will offer two full-time, one year paid traineeships to help young people get a foot in the door of the arts sector, combining practical hands-on experience with vocational education in arts administration.
Commencing in March 2015, two trainees will work with staff team at the centres, developing skills in business administration, events and marketing. In addition to the hands-on experience gained through workplace learning, the trainees will attain a nationally accredited Certificate III in Business or a Certificate III in Events. Trainees will be supported by a qualified mentor and will be assisted to seek employment at the end of their traineeship.
The ArtsReady program is a sustainable local traineeship model for young people, offering new pathways into the arts and creative industries and this is the first arts organisation in the ACT to offer youth employment through ArtsReady.
Directors of the centres, Joseph Falsone, says, “Right now there’s a strong tide of youth arts activity in this city, but very few paid employment opportunities or formal paths into a stable arts career.” In his view while supporting the individual trainees, the centres will benefit from their creative perspectives.
ArtsReady is designed as a partnership with young Australians and the arts and creative sector through an entry-level training and support model that combines practical experience at work with vocational education. ArtsReady is an initiative of AFL SportsReady and supported by the Australian Government.
ArtsReady and Ainslie and Gorman Arts Centres are now seeking trainees to commence in March 2015. Applications close on January 16, 2015. To apply visit artsready.com.au or call 02 8333 8013.
