police

ACT Policing has apprehended a 29-year-old Griffith man after he fled from police while riding a Suzuki GSXR 750 last night (Friday, March 28).

Around 10pm members from Traffic Operations attempted to conduct a routine traffic stop after the motorcycle was seen travelling along Long Gully Road without registration plates.

The rider of the motorcycle failed to stop and fled along Long Gully Road, Mugga Way, the Monaro Highway and Johnson Drive.

The incident lasted four minutes and ended at the intersection of Ashley Drive and Johnson Drive after the rider had a low speed single vehicle collision.

The rider was conveyed to The Canberra Hospital for precautionary checks and will face the ACT Magistrates Court at a later date charged with numerous traffic offences.
