Queanbeyan rates fracas coming to a head

tim overall

QUEANBEYAN Council informs “CityNews” that Mayor Tim Overall is heading to Sydney on Friday September 5 to seek relief on the Supplementary Rates issue from the Minister for Local Government Paul Toole.

The Mayor and his delegation will request that the Minister give consideration to a regulation permitting the council to write off or waive retrospective rates and charges.

It will precede an extraordinary meeting of Council next Wednesday, September 3 to consider legal advice. The meeting will be closed to the public for reasons of legal privilege.
