Record stores celebrate special day on Saturday

Print

CANBERRA’S independent records stores, Songland Music and Landspeed, are celebrating Record Store day on Saturday 19 April.

Record Store Day is an international celebration of independently owned music stores with physical locations where customers can browse the racks and talk to expert staff about new music and artists.

Record Store Day began in 2008 and has grown bigger every year.

Despite the rise of music downloading, vinyl records are more popular than ever.

On sale on the day will be limited edition Record Store Day vinyl releases.

Landspeed in Garema Place will hold a secondhand vinyl sale with more than 2000 secondhand records for sale.

Songland Music  in Cooleman Court will again be supporting the Weston RSPCA with a secondhand vinyl sale (ALL monies are going straight to their animals in need). They’ll also have hundreds of new 180gm vinyl with special Record Store Day releases on offer as well as stacks of $5 CDs and two-for-$30 T-shirts on sale.
