The Pozible-funded new album “Dans la mer aussi il y a des étoiles (‘in the sea also there are stars’) was written in France where she travelled from Marseille to Bourgogne to Paris with her two young daughters, writing songs with French poet Alain Rivet and French pop icon Helen Noguerra. ?AFTER nearly two years of effort from nearly 300 local film practitioners, the anthology feature film ‘Locks of Love is’ gearing up for its red carpet premiere at the National Film and Sound Archive (NFSA) and Palace Cinemas in New Acton this Saturday 29 November with the after party also at the NFSA. ‘Locks of Love’ is made up of eleven short films exploring the theme of love, with all stories linked by padlocks on a gate. Shot in Glebe Park, it was entirely produced by Silversun Pictures and ScreenACT. Bookings to locksoflove-film.com.


SLIDE guitarist, a songwriter, banjo player, blues singer and busker Owen Campbell’s roots are in Queanbeyan, though he has a growing national and international reputation. He’ll be at Queanbeyan’s Summer Sunset Markets in Crawford Street from 5pm tomorrow Friday November 28, all welcome.

THIS Saturday 29 November there’s a concert of Celtic music from 7.30pm at historic Benedict House in Queanbeyan (Cnr Isabella & Crawford Sts). The first part of the night will be a blackboard concert where you are welcome to do a couple of Celtic numbers. The feature act Jo Cresswell & Rita Woolhouse plan to inspire and sooth with their contemporary and traditional Scottish music, the odd foray into Scandinavia and original compositions. TERENCE Maloon of the Drill Hall gallery will be opening three exhibitions at PhotoAccess today, Nov 27, at 6pm in Manuka Arts Centre, all continuing until December 14. These are Madeline Bishop’s ‘80 Denier’, Octavio Garcia Alvarado’s ‘Ancient Mexican Codex’ and Ngaio Fitzpatrick’s video installation ‘Oblivion’. All three exhibitions explore notions of language, vision and obscurity, and will be quite beautiful and poignant shows. Bishop and Alvarado are EASS artists-in-residence, and Fitzpatrick is the recipient of the EASS exhibition prize.


THE National Archives’ new show “A Ticket to Paradise?” looks at government promotional campaigns which presented a utopian view of Australia as a welcoming country full of opportunity with beaches, jobs and housing – a safe home after the atrocities of war. Was it a ticket to paradise or something else? National Archives of Australia, Queen Victoria Terrace, Parkes until 2015.


KAREN O’Clery of Narek Galleries, 1140 Tathra-Bermagui Rd, TANJA, now has “Habitus,” an exhibition of new machine embroideries by Canberra artist Sharon Peoples. All are welcome to opening drinks with the artist at Narek Galleries, this Saturday 28 November at 6pm.

BELCONNEN Arts Centre now has showing “Shapes in Space,” work by 16 visual artists who identify as having a disability have investigated colour, shape and pattern with tutor Nicola Lambert and “Inside Out: An Expert’s Guide to Mental Health,” work created by participants and staff from the Belconnen/Gungahlin Personal Helpers and Mentors program at Richmond Fellowship. THE ACT Organ School End of Year Concert will be held in Wesley Church, Forrest, and tomorrow Friday 28 November 5.30-7.30pm. Talented local young organists will perform a variety of works. Free admission.

CANBERRA Contemporary Art Space, 19 Furneaux Street, Manuka has “Cleft,” a collaborative exhibition between Tara Braham and Louise Upshall that explores the body landscape and our human connections to the natural world, opening 6pm tonight Thursday 27 November, all welcome. ANU staff, students and alumni are turning on a twilight end-of-year celebration in the ANU School of Art precinct from 5-8pm on November 27, with the School of Art Graduating Exhibition, live music and DJ sets from School of Music students and alumni, a bake-off and a chic lounge for ANU graduates.


NINA Stevenson’s company Pied Piper is staging a 50 minute pre-Christmas show performed by children aged 6 – 14 years at St Paul’s Anglican Church Hall Manuka. For Sam and Harriet, the appearance of a Time Lord and his machine allows them to meet famous figures of old. 6pm Nov 28 and 3pm Nov 29. Tickets $5 at the door.


BRINDABELLA Orchestra, conducted by Rosalie Hannink, will be performing English Folk Songs by Vaughan Williams, Coriolan Overture by Beethoven, selections from Schubert’s Symphony No.6 and light classical music in in Queanbeyan Uniting Church, Rutledge Street at 2pm on Sunday, November 30. Entry at door by donation of $5.
