SNEDDEN Hall & Gallop, as the oldest independent law firm in Canberra, has offered two scholarships for each of the past 16 years to students from ACT colleges who intend to study law at a local university.
The scholarships recognise academic achievement and, in a practical way, assist the two winners by providing $6,000 over their first three years of their legal studies at either the Australian National University or the University of Canberra.
Thirteen students from ACT colleges were nominated for the scholarship in 2014. Each gave a presentation to an audience at the University of Canberra’s e-Court and underwent an individual interview with a judging panel.
The two recipients of the scholarship this year are Tanja Mirkovic, of Narrabundah College, and Angus Gabbedy, from Canberra Grammar School.
The judging panel were Senior Lecturer Arthur Hoyle from the University of Canberra and Nick Tebbey and Anthony Antioch from Snedden Hall & Gallop.
