What do you want from an outdoor fitness station in Theodore?

outdoor fitness

SHANE Rattenbury is asking for your thoughts on new outdoor fitness stations planned for three new locations across Canberra.

“Fitness stations will be installed at Tuggeranong Town Park, John Knight Memorial Park in Belconnen and Theodore Neighbourhood Oval to provide for those with an active lifestyle and encourage others to get active as part of their daily routines,” Shane said.

“The fitness stations will cater for various fitness levels and will include cardio and circuit equipment such as bikes, as well as strength based machines such as a leg press or chin up bars.

“We are also seeking feedback on the specific locations proposed for each of the fitness station sites at the three locations. Two sites are proposed for John Knight Memorial Park and Theodore Neighbourhood Oval, and three sites are proposed for Tuggeranong Town Park in accordance with the Tuggeranong Town Park master plan.

“The Tuggeranong Town Park and John Knight Memorial Park fitness stations will also be convenient for those who exercise around the lakes, allowing them to complete a full body workout without the need for a home gym or a gym membership and in an open air environment.

“The installation of a fitness station at Theodore Neighbourhood Oval will be a trial to gauge community use of fitness equipment at a neighbourhood oval. This will help guide any future decisions on the installation of fitness stations.”

“The ACT Government has invested $100,000 in the project, with the fitness stations to be completed by mid 2015.

“You can provide feedback on the set up of the community fitness stations by completing an online survey at www.timetotalk.act.gov.au or picking up a hardcopy survey from the public library branches in Belconnen and Tuggeranong.

“Alternatively a drop-in session will be held at John Knight Memorial Park from 10 am to 12 pm on Saturday 8 November and Tuggeranong Town Park from 10 am to 12 pm on Saturday 15 November to answer your questions and give you the opportunity to provide feedback. Consultation closes 5 pm Monday 1 December 2014,” Mr Rattenbury concluded.

Cold comfort drinking red wine in Japan

"Drinking mostly Japanese beer and sake with food wasn’t a difficulty, but for lovers of red wine though, expect to have to warm your glass to let the wine reach room temperature," writes RICHARD CALVER, home from a holiday in Japan.
