ANDREW Barr has announced the latest incremental movements in figuring out what to do with water pricing in Canberra.

“The Industry Panel appointed to review the price direction for water and sewerage services set by the Independent Competition and Regulatory Commission in 2013 have today released their draft report,” says Andrew Barr.

“The review was triggered by ACTEW under the appeal process provided for in the Independent Competition and Regulatory Commission Act 1997.

“The Panel’s draft report sets out its proposed decision to substitute a new price direction covering the five-year regulatory period up until 30 June 2018.”

President of the Panel Mary Anne Hartley says “we now invite the ACT community to make further submissions and provide feedback on the review’s proposed price direction”.

Written submissions close on 23 January 2015. Details are available on the Panel’s website.

Interested parties and members of the public are also invited to attend a public hearing that will be held in early February 2015. This will provide an opportunity for ACTEW and other stakeholders to make verbal submissions. The timing and venue will be publicly advertised and advised on the Panel’s website.

Having considered all written and verbal submissions, the Industry Panel is then expected to deliver its final report and price direction.
