Worker hospitalised as Canberra House Annex demolition goes wrong

bridge gap

YOUR correspondent was just this afternoon having a walk around the soon to be demolished Canberra House Annex on Alinga Street and West Row when I noticed the moderately iconic and little used bridge over Alinga Street had been detached from the building in preparation.

I returned to the office to find there has been a nasty accident on the site.

ACT Ambulance Service intensive care paramedics are on scene at Canberra House, Marcus Clarke Street, City following a worksite accident.

A 36-year-old male patient has been treated for neck, chest and hip injuries and will be taken to the Canberra Hospital in a serious condition.

We understand there was a ceiling collapse.
