Elderly man assaulted at home

AN elderly man was assaulted in his Ainslie home yesterday.

policePolice allege that at about 6am, a man knocked on the door of the elderly resident’s home on Piper Street demanding additional payment for painting a number on the driveway, which he had been paid for on Saturday morning.

When the elderly man refused, the man forced his way into the home, assaulted the elderly man and took his wallet.

The victim was taken to Canberra Hospital for treatment of minor lacerations.

Police are asking any witnesses to the assault to call them on 131 444.
