A master plan in the works for Curtin

curtin

MICK Gentleman says the ACT Government is preparing a master plan for the Curtin group centre. He went on to invite the community to work together to plan for a vibrant, sustainable urban village.

“A master plan for the Curtin group centre does not currently exist. While the centre has grown in character, we need to develop a strategic plan to build on its potential to support future generations.

“The Environment and Planning Directorate master plan team will work with the community to explore options to improve existing public spaces, diversify housing options and make the centre more accessible for all.

“This opportunity for urban renewal is vital to growing Canberra into a more prosperous, compact, liveable and sustainable city that can support increased population density, is more connected, and offers better places and spaces,” Minister Gentleman said.

Due to its proximity and linkages, the Curtin group centre master plan will learn from and complement the Woden town centre and Mawson group centre master plans that are now being finalised.

Feedback provided during this consultation process, along with supporting studies, will help to inform a new master plan for the Curtin group centre. The community will have another opportunity to provide feedback at the draft master plan engagement phase later this year.

“This early stage of consultation is a fantastic opportunity for the community to tell us how they would like the Curtin group centre to develop. We would like to hear innovative ideas to support growth, jobs and a diverse range of economic opportunities.

“I encourage the community to visit the consultation displays and the ‘meet the planners’ sessions to have their say on future development in the Curtin group centre,” Minister Gentleman said.

Consultation has opened via www.timetotalk.act.gov.au and will remain open until Wednesday, 10 June 2015.

It appears there is no open consultation available on the Curtin Group Centre Master Plan as indicated in the article above. Could you please direct me to a valid link for this discussion on timetotalk, I know of a number of residents who would like to accept the invitation to contribute.
Thank you, Carly.
