THE winners of this year’s ACT Nursing and Midwifery Excellence Awards were last night congratulated by Simon Corbell.
“Last night I had the honour of attending the ACT Nursing and Midwifery Excellence Awards ceremony held at the Hellenic Club, which was attended by more than 500 ACT nurses and midwives,” Simon said.
“Nurse of the Year was awarded to Ann Marie Dunk, a Clinical Nurse Consultant and wound care specialist nurse from the Tissue Viability Unit at Canberra Hospital. Ann- Marie has led important work that has resulted in reductions to the numbers of hospital acquired pressure injuries.
“Midwife of the Year was awarded to Alison Clarke, a midwife from the Fetal Medicine Unit at Centenary Hospital for Women and Children. Alison provides high level clinical expertise to women and their families during and after complicated pregnancies.
“These worthy recipients have made an enormous contribution to our health system and these awards formally recognise their commitment to the health and well-being of our community,” Mr Corbell said.
