Apartment fire in Lyneham

ACT Fire & Rescue is responding to reports of a fire in an apartment building in Lyneham.

Firefighters are currently searching the smoke filled four storey building on Northbourne Avenue for any signs of fire.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus assisted one woman from inside.

Four patients are currently being assessed on scene by intensive care paramedics for minor smoke inhalation.

ACT Fire & Rescue has multiple fire pumpers and support vehicles on scene along with two ambulances from the ACT Ambulance Service.

Firefighters have found a fire in a ground floor unit of the building and extinguished.

Crews are now ventilating the building.

A total of four people were inside the building at the time of the fire who were all rescued by firefighters wearing breathing apparatus.

The ACT Ambulance Service has assessed all four people on scene but did not need to transport them.

The cause will be investigated.
