App to put radiology patients at ease

MEDICAL  imaging clinic NCDI Woden says it has launched a radiology first with the first app in Australia to allow patients to visit its imaging clinic virtually.

The free, clinic-tour app called NCDI Woden Virtual Practice  allows patients and referrers to take a virtual tour of the Woden clinic, orientating them on clinic layout and educating them about the treatments and technology available at the clinic.

The app is available from the iTunes and an Android version is to follow.

“Patients will feel less anxious knowing where they are going and the nature of the treatment they are to receive,” says regional manager Mark Duggan.

“Doctors can now research the options available and review the state-of-the-art scanners not available in other clinics.”

The app showcases the technology accessible at the clinic such as the new 3D mammography service, a state-of-the-art 3T MRI unit and a thin-slice, low-radiation CT scanner.
