FILM, food, fashion and feeling are the themes chosen by film critic and director Simon Weaving for his third “Winter Film Series” at the NGA on Wednesdays at 6.30pm until July 8. The films are all about art and culture, as in “National Gallery”, Frederick Wiseman’s documentary depiction of a great London institution. THE Glassworks is celebrating 100 years of its home at Kingston Power House with an open day, 4pm-11pm, on Saturday, June 20. THE Devil’s Intern”, by Canberra-based Donna Hosie, has just won a 2015 Westchester Fiction Award in the US, given to authors who contribute exemplary literature to the young adult community.

CANBERRA filmmaker Sotiris Dounoukos’ 19-minute drama “A Single Body” has been awarded Best Short Film at the St Kilda Film Festival. Dounoukos, currently directing “Joe Cinque’s Consolation” here, won $10,000 and qualification for consideration in the Oscars’ short film category.

MUSICAL identity Judith Clingan had a huge response from overseas for her coming “Jubilate!” music event at the Orana Steiner School, with 76 children, teenagers and adults due to arrive on July 4 from China, Taiwan and Japan.
