SHE was known colloquially as “Mother” at the Battle of the Somme and artist Samantha Small’s big, three-dimensional version of the famous tank (but, significantly, based on a toy tank) can be seen in Canberra Museum and Gallery’s exterior exhibition space on Civic Square until early July as part of CMAG’S World War I reflections.

SEVENTY years after the notorious Death Marches in Borneo, composer Larry Sitsky has been asked to write a commemorative work. Sitsky’s Piano No. 10, “Sandakan”, will have its world premiere at All Saints Church, Ainslie, 11.30am, on Friday, May 29, following the Sandakan Memorial Service at 10am.

ANU Choral Society’s next concert, “Queens of Heaven and Earth”, presents music composed in honour of the Virgin Mary; Queen Elizabeth I; Anne, Queen Consort of France and Queen Caroline of Ansbach.
