Austen-themed play for Theatre 3

WE wonder if it is mere coincidence, but over the weekend, Newcastle Theatre Company will be in town performing a play on then Jane Austen theme,  while over at Albert Hall the 8th annual Jane Austen Festival is in full swing.

bennet

“Mr Bennet’s Bride” is a new play by Narrabundah College English teacher Emma Wood. Set in the 1780s, it’s a kind of fan-fiction play that   imagines the story of how “Pride and Prejudice”s odd couple, Mr and Mrs Bennet, met and decided to marry.

It was a huge hit for the Newcastle Theatre Company in 2014 production and will be at Theatre 3 for just three performances as part of a tour.

“Mr Bennet’s Bride” at Theatre 3, 3 Repertory Lane, 8pm April 11, 9am and 2pm April 12.. Bookings to 6257 1950 until 4pm today, Friday April 10, then door sales only from one hour before each performance, or online at
