Braddon apartment fire

FIREFIGHTERS have responded to a fire on level 5 of the Mode 3 Apartments in Braddon on Lonsdale Street.

ACT Fire & Rescue was alerted to the incident by an automatic fire alarm.

Three pumpers, the Breathing Apparatus Van and a commander are on scene.

Two residents have been evacuated from the apartment building.

The fire has been extinguished, however, firefighters are checking for spread to nearby apartments.

Crews are also conducting atmospheric tests.

The ACT Ambulance Service are also in attendance. No injuries have been reported.

The Hazardous Materials Unit and a second commander have also arrived on scene.

The cause was an electrical fault with an appliance.

ACT Fire & Rescue will shortly depart the scene.

Fire damage to the level five apartment is minimal, however the apartment has sustained extensive smoke damage.
