LIBERAL Senator Zed Seselja has welcomed funding under the Commonwealth Bridges Renewal Programme to upgrade local bridges.
“The Federal Government funds to upgrade our local bridges will make using them safer and more reliable, while also being a major boost for freight providing major benefits for the community and the region,” Zed said.
“In particular, the Bridges Renewal Programme will improve road access for local traffic and increase efficiency on local roads, which will be a relief to all.
“The Australian Government has committed $114 million under Round One of the programme, with a total commitment of $300 million over five years from 2014-15 for the entire programme.”
The local project is the strengthening of bridges on the B-double network, specifically to strengthen one bridge on Fairburn Avenue and two bridges on the Monaro Highway.
