Burns for Lyons and Fyshwick

controlled burn

THE ACT Parks and Conservation Service is advising that two hazard reduction burns will take place in the ACT this week, with a hazard reduction burn at Oakey Hill today and an ecological burn scheduled tomorrow at Jerrabomberra Wetlands.

The 10.9 hectare Oakey Hill hazard reduction burn, located in Lyons east of Tuggeranong Parkway, will reduce the fire hazard to Lyons and Weston.

The 1.5 hectare ecological burn is scheduled to take place at the Jerrabomberra Wetlands Nature Reserve, Dairy Road, Fyshwick on the flats between Jerrabomberra Creek and Dairy Road. The burn will control exotic grassland in the area and allow it to be replaced with native vegetation.
