SHANE Rattenbury has returned to the theme of most popular things of 2014 with the dog names registered last year. (Yesterday we did babies)

“Canberra’s registered dogs come in all shapes and sizes and have names ranging from Bambi to Unit, but figures released today reveal that the top dog name for 2014 is Max,” Shane said.

“The top 10 names have remained pretty consistent over the past few years.

“But there are still some owners who are particularly creative in coming up with names. This year Domestic Animal Services (DAS) has seen the names Pawnee, Chewy, Wilfred, Maximus, Chiko, Bambam, Goose, Freckles, Subramani, Piccolo and Aussie, among many others.

“Some owners with multiple pets have themed their dog names in fun ways, for example this year DAS registered two dogs called Dolce and Gabba and from another family three Pomeranians; Qi Qi, Wi Wi and Xi Xi.”
