THIS afternoon the Liberals were considering but not quite ready to go for more stringent anti-corruption bodies for the ACT.
Which did have us wondering what the ACT Government thought about the subject.
“Does the ACT Government have any views on the merits of a dedicated corruption fighting body?” we asked.
Chief Minister Barr had this reply for us:
The ACT already has a strong anti-corruption system in place, with independent authorities such as the Ombudsman and Auditor-General providing robust oversight.
The Australian Crime Commission, the Federal Police and the ACCC all have wide powers to investigate and deal with a variety of allegations.
The ACT also has a world class public interest disclosure regime. This allows individual’s within the ACT Public Service to voice their concerns without fear of reprisal.
