Cook sexual assault follows big night out in Civic

police

ACT Policing has arrested a 24-year-old Cook man after the alleged sexual assault of a woman at a residence in Cook on Friday (13 November).

Police will allege the man sexually assaulted a 19 year-old woman following a night out in Civic.

Between 3am and 4am (Friday, 13 November) the woman was placed in a vehicle with a male person and driven to an address in Cook. The woman was allegedly sexually assaulted before being able to escape the premises and seek assistance from a member of the public.

Following inquiries the male offender was identified and arrested by ACT Policing’s Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Team (SACAT).

Police would like to speak to the driver of that vehicle who drove the female and male to the Cook address as they may be able to assist police further with their investigations.

The 24 year-old Cook man will appear before the ACT Magistrates Court this morning charged with three counts of sexual intercourse without consent, sexual assault (second degree) and one count of act of indecency without consent. Police will be opposing bail.
