THE Embassy of Mexico is joining with the Canberra Museum and Gallery to present a public performance in Canberra of one of Mexico’s coolest classical musicians, the flautist and recorder player, Horacio Franco.
Franco is one of Mexico’s most respected classical musicians, performing both early as folk, contemporary and popular music, with an international reputation based on more than 30-year career as a soloist and conductor.
He has performed with orchestras across the world including the Academy of Saint Martin in the Fields, City of Birmingham, Philharmonia Baroque, American Composers, Berliner Symphoniker, Orchestra of the Age of the Enlightenment, Tokyo Solisten, among many others.
By adopting, a pop star image, seen from the Twitter picture of him as the God, Pan, he is changing the way classical music concerts and the recorder in particular are perceived, especially by younger people.
The concert is presented by the Embassy of Mexico in Australia as a part of “Windows to the World 2015”.
