Deakin cycle collision victim becomes the first road fatality of 2015

THE 49-year-old Canberra cyclist who fell from his bicycle in Kent St, Deakin last week died in hospital yesterday (January 31).

The cyclist, from Narrabundah, suffered critical head injuries as a result of the fall on January 29 around 7.45am.

ACT Policing is continuing to investigate the full circumstances surrounding the incident and the Collision Investigation and Reconstruction Team (CIRT) will now prepare a report for the Coroner.

The family of the deceased man has asked that their privacy be respected.

This marks the first road fatality in the ACT for 2015.
