THE Goulburn Supercharger Station was officially opened by Tesla Motors last week.

Tesla Motors is expanding its accessibility in Australia with the opening of an eight-station Supercharger hub in Goulburn.

Conveniently located just off the Hume Hwy, the Goulburn Supercharger Station will allow Tesla owners to travel between Sydney and Canberra. The station is located at the Visitor Information Centre, just off the main street, and will enable 270km of charge in 30 minutes for free.

The Superchargers were installed over the course of last month at 201 Sloane Street after a co-operative arrangement between Tesla Motors and Goulburn Mulwaree Council was finalised.

“Goulburn Mulwaree Council is excited to partner with Tesla to provide the location for the Supercharger Station. The Goulburn Mulwaree community have been excited by this development, which has created a lot of interest locally and by visitors to our City,” said Warwick Bennett, Council’s General Manager.

Manager of Council’s Goulburn Marketing and Events unit (based in the Goulburn Visitor Information Centre), Sarah Ruberto believed that the supercharger station will have a positive economic impact on the City.

“We’ve already seen Tesla owners coming to Goulburn for a day trip, even to do their groceries. A group of Tesla owners planned to visit Goulburn the very next Saturday after they were activated, travelling from Sydney and Canberra to use the Superchargers. While in Goulburn, they enjoyed a long lunch and spent time visiting our many attractions.” Sarah said.

Superchargers are designed for city-to-city travel, allowing Tesla Model S electric vehicle drivers to travel for about three hours, take a break, and get back on the road easily.

Tesla Motors leases the eight car spaces from Goulburn Mulwaree Council and pay for the electricity supply to their customers and their compatible Model S vehicles.
