THE European Space Agency’s Head of Missions Operations, Dr Paolo Ferri, and Senior Science Advisor, Prof Mark McCaughrean are coming to Canberra next week to give a public talk on their Rosetta mission which culminated in the delivery of Rosetta’s lander Philae on a comet.

“Rosetta is a highly complex mission and marks several firsts in space exploration, but we knew if we could pull it off it would be a crucial key to unlocking the history and evolution of our Solar System,” said Dr Ferri.

“The lander took the first-ever images from the surface of a comet, and by combining its scientific data with that of the Rosetta orbiter, we hope to answer questions about the role comets may have played in bringing water and the building blocks of life to Earth,” Prof McCaughrean added.

5.30pm Thursday 19 February, CSIRO Discovery Centre, North Science Road Acton. Bookings are essential to eventbrite.com.au .
