Evacuation at the Coles in Westfield Woden

fire brigade

AROUND 20 people had to be evacuated from Coles in Westfield Woden tonight.

ACT Fire & Rescue was called to the shopping centre about 8.15pm after reports of multiple fire alarms going off.

A sprinkler in Coles activated in the storage/cool room, resulting in an electrical burning smell.

There was no fire but firefighters evacuated some staff, contained the area and helped with salvage operations.

Control of the supermarket has been handed back to staff.
