ANDREW Barr has announced the next phase of the Brand Canberra project and welcomed the newly appointed Brand Strategic Advisory Board (BSAB).

“The next phase of the CBR Brand is designed to encourage greater community input into the direction of the Brand, seeking advice from the Board members and the Canberra Business Chamber to explore new uses for the brand,” Andrew said.

“For our city brand to continue to grow, we need to keep forming strong partnerships with a range of industries in the private sector.”

The Board will be chaired by Tania Parkes from Tania Parkes Consulting and other members are:

  • Amanda Whitley, Her Canberra
  • Chris Kimball, Snowy Hydro SouthCare
  • Eoghan O’Byrne, Canberra FM
  • Kevin Keith, FutureNet
  • Sarah Pearson, CBR Innovation Network
  • Tracy Chalk, ANU

“There will be a total of nine members on the new Board, the eighth member coming from the arts and creative sector and the ninth member who will be an ACT Government representative. The Board is to provide advice and guidance in relation to marketing, investments and partnership opportunities for CBR and the wider Canberra Region.

“In addition to the board, a partnership between the ACT Government and the Canberra Business Chamber has been established that aims to enhance Canberra’s profile as a great place to live, work, invest, visit and study.”

“I feel very honoured to have been asked to Chair the Brand Strategic Advisory Board; there are a number of exciting opportunities for CBR to become a nationally and internationally recognised brand,” Tania Parkes said.

“I’m looking forward to working with this accomplished group of people that share the same passion for our city and its possibilities.”

“Brand Canberra was launched in November 2013 and has been a key driver behind a number of economic initiatives over the last two years,” Andrew said

“This included the successful launch of our community brand ‘We Are CBR’ and our regional economic development brand ‘CBR – Canberra Region’.”
