Fire evacuation at Dickson College

ACT Fire & Rescue is on scene at Dickson College, Phillip Ave, Dickson following a fire in an oven at the canteen.

Fire is extinguished and crews are now conducting ventilation and air monitoring operations.

The College has been evacuated.

The fire was extinguished by on site staff at the College.

ACT Fire & Rescue has investigated and found no fire extension into the roof.

Damage is estimated at $5,000 and the commercial oven has been destroyed.

The college remains evacuated at this stage.

Correction- Upon further investigation, estimated damage to the oven is $1,000 and the oven has not been destroyed

Staff and students have been allowed to return to the College.

ACT Fire & Rescue will depart the College shortly.
