Fluffy truck rollover on Uriarra Road

FIONA Barbaro, the Acting ACT Work Safety Commissioner, says that at approximately 2pm this afternoon a truck carrying demolition rubble from a Mr Fluffy property overturned on its side on Uriarra Road.

“The contents of the truck was damp, and was mostly contained in the tarp when the truck overturned,” Fiona said.

“It has been kept damp on the site, an exclusion zone has been established as a precaution and air monitoring is in place.

“Licensed asbestos assessors, removalists and WorkSafe are on site.

“It is important to understand that when the rubble is transported loose fill asbestos has already been removed. The risk to motorists is negligible. The site will be cleaned as a precaution once the truck has been removed.

“The circumstances of the incident will be investigated.”
