Gas leak evacuation in Civic

A building in Civic is being evacuated following reports of a gas leak.

ACTF&R are responding with multiple resources to the building on the corner of London Circuit and Constitution Avenue.

An estimated 50 people have been evacuated from the ground and first floors of the office building.

Firefighters have identified a small gas leak in a plant room which is believed to have spread into a number of air-conditioning vents on the first two floors of the building.

There are no reports of injuries at this stage.

ACT Fire & Rescue is on scene with two fire pumpers, a Commander and the HAZMAT Unit.

ACTF&R have confirmed a gas leak was repsonsible for the evacuation of up to 50 people from the first two floors of the building in Civic.

The leak as been isolated to the gas room where it is believed to have spread into the air-conditioning units.

The building has now been re-occupied after HAZMAT confirmed the gas had dissipated from the building.
