‘Hybrids’ at Goulburn Steampunk and Victoriana Fair

CANBERRA artist Barak Zelig is spending a lot of time across the border in Goulburn of late and his art will be at the forefront of this weekend’s Steampunk and Victoriana Fair 2015, expected to bring Steampunk and Victoriana enthusiasts nationwide to Goulburn.

Zelig sees the fair as ‘the perfect foil’ to his surreal artworks, a mixture of fantasy, steampunk, satire and mystery.

Zelig uses metamorphosis to create hybrid animals, human or objects in his sculptures and prints.

Many of his sculptures relate directly to Steampunk – a sub-genre of science fiction that appeared in the 1960s incorporating futuristic and post-apocalyptic ideas with industrial machinery. Other sculptures relate Zelig’s early stone lithograph hybrid prints, also on show as part of this unusual exhibition.

Steampunk and Victoriana Fair 2015, at Goulburn Historic Waterworks, Marsden Weir, off Fitzroy Street, Goulburn, 10am -3pm this Sunday October 25.

‘Hybrids’ – a steampunk exhibition of hybrid art works by Barak Zelig, closes on November 30.
