ACT Policing would like to thank NSW Police and the community for their assistance in locating an 18-month-old girl who was abducted yesterday afternoon from a house in Belconnen.

After an extensive police operation during which ACT Policing worked closely with the NSW Police Force, the child was located by NSW Police about 9.15am this morning in bushland west of Bateman’s Bay, NSW.

The child was found safe and well. Arrangements are being made to return the child to the care of ACT Care and Protection.

ACT Policing Detective Acting Superintendent Joanne Cameron thanked NSW Police and the community for their assistance.

“Our primary focus from the beginning of this investigation was the safety of this 18-month old girl,” D/A/Supt Cameron said.

“Initial assistance of some people who provided information was invaluable and through the collaborative efforts of ACT Policing and NSW Police, the child was located safe and well.”

Two people are in the custody of NSW Police, assisting with the investigation.
