FIREFIGHTERS have extinguished a fire in a kitchen on De Burgh Street, Lyneham.

ACT Fire & Rescue is currently searching for any fire extension in the roof of the home.

Two fire pumpers, the Breathing Apparatus Van, the Hazardous materials unit and one Commander are on scene.

Estimated damage is $5,000.

ACT Fire & Rescue would like to remind the community to “Don’t Stop Looking While You’re Cooking.”

A neighbour initially worked to extinguish the fire with a fire blanket before firefighters arrived to fully extinguish and check for any fire spread in the home.

ACT Ambulance Service intensive care paramedics have assessed three patients for smoke inhalation and no-one was taken to hospital.
