Lyn Mills’ social event of the week

SOTIRIA Liangis is “Mrs L” to the members of the Starlight ACT Committee and their respect and admiration for her was evident with the final flurry of finishing touches for their second fundraising dinner.

Musicians were setting the tone on the back terrace as trays of welcoming drinks – Bollinger, of course, for this “Ab-Fab” occasion – and canapés were served for arriving guests. There were 100 guests who paid $1000 each.

What a night it was. An open house at the O’Malley home that Mrs L built for just such an occasion and raising money for whatever it takes to help sick children at the Canberra Hospital, with her absolute intent to make sure every dollar goes there.

She pays for everything to make the guests feel special and her choice of catering is part of that with a gourmet dinner from the Ottoman Cuisine team headed up by owner Serif Kaya with the best of wines to accompany the feast.

Dessert was in the hands of Dammika Hatharasinghe who created a magical raspberry, Belgian chocolate mirror finish mousse mould with signature sugar work and accompanying treats.

Intentionally generous and quietly supportive in many extraordinary ways, Mrs L is a philanthropist and a businesswoman, a mother and a grandmother with the Starlight ACT committee her greatest admirers.
