Markets to pile up around City Walk over Christmas

THE Canberra City Walk Markets is set to launch this weekend in Petrie Plaza.

Canberra CBD Limited CEO Jane Easthope says the Canberra City Walk Markets will host their first official market day with a Market Warming Party this Saturday.

“The Canberra City Walk Markets have been developed from the previous inner city market, the Gorman House Markets, since their closure in May 2015,” Jane said.

“The new location will be a fresh start for the market with potential for growth in the future.

“The Canberra City Walk Markets will be a great addition to the City centre and we are excited to see what they have on offer. We are looking forward to supporting the Canberra City Walk Markets as they develop in their new location.

“There will approximately 30 stall holders, including seven food stalls, at the Market Warming Party from 10am – 4pm this Saturday, 24 October 2015.

“Along with amazing products there will also be multicultural food, live music, and Kids Land – with craft and activities for children.

“The Canberra City Walk Market will be held every Saturday in Petrie Plaza, between the Merry-go-round and London Circuit.

“Canberra City Walk Markets will join in on the festive spirit and have a Christmas theme during Christmas in the City – Canberra celebrates.

“Santa Claus Lane markets will run from 10am – 4pm on Saturday 28 November and Saturday 5 December 2015 and Breakfast and Brunch with Santa – Santa Claus Lane Markets will run from 8am – 2pm on 12 and 13 and 19 and 20 December.

“The Santa Claus Lane markets will make way for the Christmas Night Markets which will run from 5pm on 27, 28 and 29 November; and from 3pm on 11-23 December.

“The Taste Canberra markets are also included in the Christmas in the City – Canberra Celebrates programme and will run from 5pm on 27, 28 and 29 November and 4, 5 and 6 December and from 3pm on 11-23 December.”
