Meg Morton is one of Canberra’s busiest artists, and now Hotel Hotel in NewActon has appointed her as manager of the Nishi Gallery.
Well-known around the traps for her life drawing-classes and her exhibitions of beautiful minimalist work, Morton will have her time cut out for her now, at the increasingly busy art space where she herself has exhibited in the past.
Morton has curated and launched two sell-out solo exhibitions in Canberra since 2013 and presented a group exhibition by artists that she tutors as part of the Nishi Art Collective.
General manager of Hotel Hotel, Nicole Short, says, “Meg brings a new energy and approach as an artist and business person to the Nishi Gallery…it’s a new role, with huge potential to redefine the gallery as a commercial art space, one that is respected in the arts and cultural community.” Naturally Short sees the gallery as “an incredible space” that “deserves to be pushed with gusto into the second half of this decade.”
As for Morton, she’s busy planning show for the 2016 and 2017.
