NIDA comes to Daramalan these holidays

DARAMALAN College will once again be the setting for a program of performing arts courses staged by the National Institute of Dramatic Art for children and adults in July.

From July 13–19, NIDA Open will be at Daramalan, giving people of all ages the opportunity to participate in a variety of performing arts classes.

Head of the program, Caroline Spence says, “The winter program offers something for everyone and for every skill-level, so children and young people can jump in and try something brand-new or build their skills these school holidays.”

NIDA tutors experienced in theatre, TV and film, will take classes in acting techniques for different age-groups.

The full program is below:

Drama School, July 13–17, 10am– 5pm Grades 3–6 and 7–10 $595 inc GST. This course allows children to explore their imagination while developing performing arts skills including improvisation, voice, movement, acting, physical awareness, spontaneity and stage craft. Creative play and rehearsing scenes from classics plays are a focus during the course with participants having the chance to put their new skills to the test with a performance for family and friends at the end of the five days.

NIDA Wonderland Stories, July 18–19, 10am– 5pm Grades 3–6 $310 inc GST. Discover the world of Alice and the characters she meets on her adventures. Create characters using props and costume as you devise your own Wonderland scenes.

Screen Acting Techniques, July 13–17, 10am– 5pm 18 years + $595 inc GST. Rehearse and perform scenes from contemporary film and television, and gain confidence in acting honestly for the camera.
