Operation Armscote nets a Hackett grow house

ACT Policing has seized a further 71 cannabis plants and over $20,000 worth of hydroponic equipment as part of Operation Armscote.

Operation Armscote commenced on 12 June 2015 when a grow house was located in Kaleen. Since then, police have seized 912 cannabis plants, uncovered nine grow houses and arrested six people on drug charges.

Yesterday (Monday 13 July), following information provided by a member of the public, officers executed a search warrant at a property in Hackett.

The residence was established as a grow house and was identical to previous grow houses identified by ACT Policing across Canberra.

Detective Sergeant Richard Gough from ACT Policing Criminal Investigations said this successful seizure shows how significant information provided by the community to police can be in solving crime.

“Operation Armscote remains ongoing and by keeping an eye out, the community can assist police in detecting these properties and getting drugs off our streets,” Detective Sergeant Gough said.

“If you notice suspicious activity occurring try and take note of as many details as possible and report the information to police. Every piece of information is important to us and could result in a successful seizure.”

Police are urging anyone who may have information about grow houses or if they know the location of a suspected grow house to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via act.crimestoppers.com.au. Information can be provided anonymously.
